With the sun in the sky Hugh showed it wasn't just on the big screen that he was able to be the action packed leading man.

The strapping 6ft 2inch superstar kept his famously muscular body covered in a black polo shirt and matching shorts.

With his eyes hidden behind a pair of sunglasses, the father-of-two looked effortlessly cool as he ran up and down the beach.

His 56-year-old wife Deborra-Lee Furness, wore a casual all-black ensemble and carried a red boogie board as the wind blew through her hair.

Jackman's stay in his hometown of Sydney is not purely for play as he will begin filming X-Men Origins sequel The Wolverine at Fox Studios, next week.

According to reports the movie will provide an $80million boost to the local economy, even though it won't feature any big name star other than Jackman.

As part of Hugh's list of requests, a private gym has been set up for him on set and a temporary home has been found for his family in Woollahra.

The in demand actor has also finally wrapped shooting his part as Jean Valjean in the musical film Les Miserables.

Hugh plays a poor man on the run from the police after he was released from prison after a 19 year stretch for stealing bread for his family.

He is being pursued by Russell Crowe's Inspector Javert, who released Valjean on parole, but then later decided to dedicate his life to imprisoning him again.
