Get Great Results With These Practical Home Improvement Tips ...

TIP! When you are considering doing some home improvements, the kitchen is a great starting point. Start with the walls; if there are grease stains, mix up a 2 to 1 solution of TSP and water.

A few easy and considerably small home renovations can greatly impact your home?s value. Simple updates can increase the resale value of your home by thousands. Here are some home improvement tips to help you begin.

TIP! When thinking about the colors in a room, obey the 60/30/10 rule. Simply put, 60% of the color used should dominant, 30% secondary, and 10% accent.

If you are trying to save on your heating bills, make sure to insulate the attic. If the insulation of your attic is not good, you might be losing a lot of heat in the winter. Most hardware stores sell insulation, and installing it yourself is relatively simple.

TIP! Consider windows that have secondary glazing. These windows cost more, but they lower energy bills and reduce outside noise.

Light green, light blue, and other light colors can give your rooms a peaceful effect. Try to stick to cotton and linen fabrics rather than heavier materials. You can also place a scented candle or potpourri in the room for a nice, tranquil scent.

TIP! Ensure that your caulking isn?t cracked, worn, separating or in otherwise poor condition. Check around your sink, tub, tile and anything else that?s caulked at least once every year.

Many people assume putting in ceramic tile is hard to do, but the opposite is true. Choose between a solid color or cool designs to improve the look of the room. Installing such tile can be a beautiful way to add value and appeal in your home.

TIP! Shop around for the best estimates and compare your contractor candidates carefully. Make a clear, specific list of the work you want done, and do not keep changing project details throughout the estimate process.

Highlight the best features of your house. Do not block any of the windows that are overlooking a pond or take down the canopy to show off the tiered ceiling in the master suite. Regardless of your case, you should ensure that your selling points are showcased properly. This will showcase your home?s most special and desirable features to potential buyers.

TIP! A chain-link or wooden fence may be a good idea if you?ve purchased a home near a woody area or undeveloped location. This will prevent curious animals such as coyotes, rabbits and skunks away ? specifically if you want to have a garden.

Whether you live in the suburbs or the chicest gated community, chandeliers are definitely ?in?. For less than $500, you can find elegant, striking chandeliers that work well as gorgeous focal points for rooms such as a formal dining room, foyer or den. For extra brightness that will truly allow your chandelier to sparkle, opt for a total wattage between 200 and 400.

TIP! You can diagnose easily if you think you lost water pressure. Begin by making inquiries with the neighbors to see if they are also affected.

Is your flooring looking a bit old? If you have a lot of energy and a lot of time on your hands, you will be able to remove your old flooring and install pre-glued wood tiles on your own. Although some people might think this is cheap flooring, it can actually be very nice to look at. It is also so easy to install that you can do it yourself.

TIP! Doing work on your bathroom is a good idea. A buyer can easily personalize a living room or bedroom, but the bathroom needs to be in great shape.

Working on your property can be easy. Your tasks will go more smoothly if you take some time to make a list of the steps necessary to complete the job. Try using these ideas to boost your home?s value

Google's Niantic Labs launches Field Trip app for Android, helps the working world play hooky

Image

While Apple struggles to figure out how to help its users find their way, the mapping experts at Google have just launched a way to get folks to diverge a bit from their given path. Field Trip, released for Android by Google-owned Niantic Labs, runs in the background on your Android handset, eagerly waiting for you to get near a point of interest. Once that happens, it leaps into action, showing you a card for one of thousands of cool locations -- historic spots, museums, restaurants and the like. Google's partnered with a bunch of taste makers for the project, including Flavorpill, Cool Hunting and its own Zagat, to get things done. You can vote choices up and down, change the frequency of pop ups and post your findings to Twitter, Facebook and that one Plus social network. There's also a driving mode serves as an auditory tour guide when you're behind the wheel. The app's available now as a free download in Play. The iOS version, on the other hand, is coming soon.

Psst... yes, it appears to be US-only for now. Bah, humbug.

Researchers find risk markers for erectile dysfunction following radiation in prostate cancer

Thursday, September 27, 2012

In the first study of its kind, a research team led by Mount Sinai School of Medicine and Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University discovered 12 genetic markers associated with the development of erectile dysfunction (ED) in prostate cancer patients who were treated with radiation. The findings, published in the International Journal of Radiation Oncology? Biology? Physics, are an important step towards helping clinicians determine the best course of treatment for prostate cancer patients and may lead to the development of therapies that alleviate side effects.

The main treatments for prostate cancer ? surgery, brachytherapy (seed implants) and external beam radiation therapy ? are all very effective at curing prostate cancer. Unfortunately, each treatment places patients at risk for ED. According to the National Cancer Institute, the prevalence of erectile dysfunction following external beam radiation for prostate cancer ranges from 65 percent to 85 percent. The Prostate Cancer Foundation estimates prevalence of ED following seed therapy at 25 to 50 percent. Many men will be able to regain their potency with time and treatments, but doctors would like to identify which men may be more likely to develop this side effect.

In the first large scale Genome-Wide Association Study to identify single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) associated with susceptibility for the development of erectile dysfunction following radiotherapy for prostate cancer, researchers conducted a two-part study, first, to discover the candidate genetic markers of side effect risk, and second, to confirm which of those markers are replicated in a second group of patients. In the first group of prostate cancer patients, which included 132 men who developed erectile dysfunction after radiotherapy and 103 men similarly treated who did not develop erectile dysfunction, they found a set of genetic markers associated with erectile dysfunction. In the second part of the study, which examined 128 patients who developed erectile dysfunction after radiotherapy and 102 who did not, researchers confirmed that 12 SNPs were associated with erectile dysfunction.

"Thankfully, current treatments for prostate cancer offer excellent rates of long-term survival, so patients and their physicians have a choice about which treatment path to take," said Barry Rosenstein, PhD, Professor of Radiation Oncology, Mount Sinai School of Medicine. "However, the risk of developing erectile dysfunction after radiation treatment is highly variable, suggesting there may be a genetic component to determining that risk. Our study confirms that specific markers make certain patients more susceptible to this side effect."

Patients in the study cohort were given one of three treatments: internal radiotherapy, known as brachytherapy; brachytherapy plus external beam radiation; or external beam radiation alone. They were followed for an average length of nearly four years to determine level of sexual function after treatment.

Interestingly, the 12 SNPs identified in this study were located near genes that seem to be related to erectile function rather than related to radiation response. The researchers conclude that these SNPs may affect genes that sensitize a patient to developing erectile dysfunction when exposed to radiation during therapy.

"Prostate cancer screening and treatment are undergoing major shifts," said Harry Ostrer, MD, Professor of Pathology and Genetics at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Director of Genetic and Genomic Testing at Montefiore Medical Center and co-principal investigator of the study. "This is part of our ongoing effort to identify men at highest risk for disease, identify the aggressive tumors that would be responsive to therapy, and to improve quality of life for men with indolent prostate cancers who might benefit from active surveillance, rather than therapy."

The authors indicate that examination of a large, independent cohort of similarly treated patients will be necessary to definitively determine which SNPs to include as part of a clinically useful predictive test to identify which men are at greatest risk for developing erectile dysfunction following prostate cancer radiotherapy. The researchers are also evaluating the impact of radiation treatment on urinary complications and proctitis, the inflammation of the rectum.

'I'm bored!' -- Research on attention sheds light on the unengaged mind

ScienceDaily (Sep. 26, 2012) ? You're waiting in the reception area of your doctor's office. The magazines are uninteresting. The pictures on the wall are dull. The second hand on the wall clock moves so excruciatingly slowly that you're sure it must be broken. You feel depleted and irritated about being stuck in this seemingly endless moment. You want to be engaged by something -- anything -- when a thought, so familiar from childhood, comes to mind: "I'm bored!"

Although boredom is often seen as a trivial and temporary discomfort that can be alleviated by a simple change in circumstances, it can also be a chronic and pervasive stressor that can have significant consequences for health and well-being.

Boredom at work may cause serious accidents when safety depends on continuous vigilance, as in medical monitoring or long-haul truck driving. On a behavioral level, boredom has been linked with problems with impulse control, leading to overeating and binge eating, drug and alcohol abuse, and problem gambling. Boredom has even been associated with mortality, lending grim weight to the popular phrase "bored to death."

Although it's clear that boredom can be a serious problem, the scientific study of boredom remains an obscure niche of research, and boredom itself is still poorly understood. Even though it's a common experience, boredom hasn't been clearly defined within the scientific community.

Psychological scientist John Eastwood of York University (Ontario, Canada) and colleagues at the University of Guelph and the University of Waterloo wanted to understand the mental processes that underlie our feelings of boredom in order to create a precise definition of boredom that can be applied across a variety of theoretical frameworks. Their new article, which brings together existing research on attention and boredom, is published in the September 2012 issue of Perspectives on Psychological Science, a journal of the Association for Psychological Science.

Drawing from research across many areas of psychological science and neuroscience, Eastwood and colleagues define boredom as "an aversive state of wanting, but being unable, to engage in satisfying activity," which arises from failures in one of the brain's attention networks.

Specifically, we're bored when:

  • We have difficulty paying attention to the internal information (e.g., thoughts or feelings) or external information (e.g., environmental stimuli) required for participating in satisfying activity
  • We're aware of the fact that we're having difficulty paying attention
  • We believe that the environment is responsible for our aversive state (e.g., "this task is boring," "there is nothing to do").

The researchers are confident that integrating the disparate fields of cognitive neuroscience, social psychology, and clinical psychology will produce a more thorough understanding of boredom and attention -- phenomena which are ubiquitous and intimately linked.

Armed with a precise and broadly applicable definition of boredom that gets at the underlying mental processes, the authors identify important next steps in research on boredom. Eastwood and his colleagues hope to help in the discovery and development of new strategies that ease the problems of boredom sufferers and address the potential dangers of cognitive errors that are often associated with boredom.

Microsoft faces billions in fines over breached deal

By Roland Jones, NBC News

European regulators are set to charge Microsoft for not complying with a 2009 ruling requiring it to offer users a choice of web browsers, according to the EU's antitrust chief.

?The next step is to open a formal proceeding into the company's breach of an agreement. We are working on this,? EU Competition Commissioner Joaquin Almunia said in a statement.

?It should not be a long investigation because the company itself explicitly recognized its breach of the agreement,? Almunia added.

EU regulators first began investigating the case in July, when Microsoft was first accused of failing to meet its commitments under EU antitrust decisions. If found guilty, Microsoft could face fines of up to 10 percent of its global turnover, which based on 2012 figures could amount to $7.37 billion, or roughly 5.73 billion euros.

Nearly three years ago Microsoft agreed to allow European consumers better access to rival browsers in its Windows software. The decision settled an antitrust case and let Microsoft?avoid paying a penalty of 10 percent of turnover.

Microsoft has been fined more than 1 billion euros, or around $1.3 billion, by the Commission in the last decade for breaking EU rules.

Doctors on Call: What you need to know about thyroid cancer

J. Gary Evans

The thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland at the front of your neck just below the Adam?s apple. A healthy thyroid is a little larger than a quarter and usually can?t be felt through the skin.

It might be small, but it?s important.

The thyroid, part of the endocrine system, makes hormones that affect heart rate, blood pressure, metabolism, body temperature and weight.

Many people have benign growths or nodules in their thyroids. But the nodules can also be malignant. Thyroid cancer is the ninth most common type of cancer in the U.S., but it is the fastest increasing cancer in men and women. Here are some facts to know about thyroid cancer:

How common is thyroid cancer?
Thyroid cancer accounts for 1 percent of malignancies diagnosed in the United States each year. The American Cancer Society estimates 56,460 new cases of thyroid cancer and 1,780 deaths from thyroid cancer in the United States for 2012. Although the incidence of thyroid cancer has more than doubled over the past 30 years, part of the increase is related to earlier diagnoses now made possible with readily available diagnostic imaging, such as thyroid ultrasonography.

Who is at risk for thyroid cancer?
Thyroid cancer can affect any age group, but appears to be more common in young and middle adulthood. Two-thirds of those diagnosed with thyroid cancer are between 20 and 55 years old. Women are affected three times as often as men. People with a family history of thyroid cancer or a prior history of radiation treatment or exposure (particularly to the head and neck) are also at a higher risk for thyroid cancer.

What are the symptoms of thyroid cancer?
Thyroid cancer may not cause any symptoms at all in its early development. As the cancer grows in size, however, it is likely to cause symptoms, typically developing into a growing nodule or lump, which increases in size over time. The nodules may be seen or felt at the front of the neck. Enlargement or swelling of the neck, enlarged lymph nodes, hoarseness, difficulty swallowing, difficulty breathing and pain in the neck or throat can be prominent symptoms.

What do nodules have to do with cancer?
A thyroid nodule is a lump or growth within the thyroid gland. Thyroid nodules are very common; they are found in 4 to 8 percent of adults on physical examination, and can be seen in 20 to 40 percent of patients via ultrasound. Sometimes thyroid nodules are found incidentally by other tests such as carotid dopplers, CAT scans or MRI?s of the neck and chest. The risk of a thyroid nodule being a thyroid cancer is about 5 percent, though the risk of cancer can be higher if other risk factors and symptoms are present.

How is thyroid cancer diagnosed?
Patients with thyroid nodules that are palpable or approach 1 centimeter in size or larger should undergo a thyroid fine needle aspiration (FNA), which is generally performed with ultrasound guidance. Smaller nodules can also be sampled by FNA depending on location, or are often simply monitored for any size change by a follow-up thyroid ultrasound.

The thyroid FNA uses a very small needle and does not require any sedation or pain medication. A pathologist looks at the specimen under the microscope and determines if the nodule is benign or malignant (cancerous). If the FNA is not able to establish the diagnosis, some patients may need to undergo a surgical biopsy, where part of the thyroid containing the nodule is removed.

How is thyroid cancer treated?
When thyroid cancer has been diagnosed patients are referred to an experienced thyroid surgeon for surgical removal of the gland. During surgery, lymph nodes in the neck may also be removed and tested for cancer cells. Most patients undergo radioactive iodine treatment after surgery to reduce the likelihood of cancer recurrence.

The survival/cure rate for the most common forms of thyroid cancer is excellent and approaches 95 percent with appropriate care.

Tumor cell growth does not follow a master plan

ScienceDaily (Sep. 25, 2012) ? Scientists at Charit? -- Universit?tsmedizin Berlin could explain a yet unknown regulatory network that controls the growth of tumor cells. Understanding such networks is an important task in molecular tumor biology in order to decode the relationships between the determinants defining which molecules are produced and in what quantities, in both normal and tumor cells.

The study is published in the journal Molecular Systems Biology.

The growth of a tumor and its reaction to specifically targeted therapy is dictated by changes in its genetic material (mutations) encoding special signal molecules. These molecules activate the genetic program of tumor cells via branched signaling pathways and influence all processes needed for cell division, the mobility of cells and metastasis. Significant steering elements of these tumor-specific programs are called transcription factors. These are molecules that selectively control the transcription of the cell's genetic information (DNA) into messenger RNA and enable production of proteins . Altogether a complex network of mutually regulating transcription factors is activated.

Whereas the signal network in human tumors has already been characterized very well, it is hardly understood how transcription factors cooperate and regulate each other. In order to explain this transcription factor network, the scientists used a systems biology approach. A complex experimental data set -- in which the transcription factors in tumor cells were systematically disrupted -- was analyzed with the help of mathematical modeling. As a result, interactions within the network could be reconstructed and the network controlling tumor growth clarified.

"Contrary to a current assumption, the results show that no superordinate transcription factor exists that controls the activity of other factors as a master regulator," explains Prof. Reinhold Sch?fer, head of the Laboratory for Molecular Tumor Pathology and deputy director of the Charit? Comprehensive Cancer Center. Instead, two hierarchical groups of interacting factors exist. Each of them activates gene sets needed for growth and cancer-specific properties of the cells. The results indicate that new therapeutic approaches against tumors must target multiple rather than singular factors and consider the network structures.

Develop Don?t Destroy founder clears hurdles in bid for Park Slope home expansion

September 25, 2012 10:00AM

Daniel Goldstein

A leader of the opposition to the Barclays Center may have officially lost his battle when the arena opens later this week, but he appears to be on the winning side of a more local real estate battle.

Park Slope neighbors have finally relented in their efforts to thwart Develop Don?t Destroy Brooklyn founder Daniel Goldstein?s plans to build a three-story extension to the back of the home he purchased last year. Goldstein bought the property last year after winning a $3 million settlement when his Atlantic Yards home was seized to make room for the Forest City Ratner development.

He filed plans to build a three-story horizontal extension with a deck and a hot tub that?s allowed for under current zoning regulations. But neighbors on either side of Goldstein?s home publicly outed him, harping on the inconsistencies between his fight against Barclays and his own real estate ambitions.

But the New York Times reported that one of those neighbors already sold her home and has moved out and the other house sold for $1.425 million last week. Both newcomers told the Times they have no issues with Goldstein?s plan. [NYT] ??Adam Fusfeld

US: Cyber Attacks Warrant Military Retaliation, Unless We Launch Them

John Glaser, September 24, 2012

Via Micah Zenko, the Washington Post last week reminded us of official US policy regarding cyber-warfare:

Cyberattacks can amount to armed attacks triggering the right of self-defense and are subject to international laws of war, the State Department?s top lawyer said Tuesday.

Spelling out the U.S. government?s position on the rules governing cyberwarfare, Harold Koh, the department?s legal adviser, said a cyber-operation that results in death, injury or significant destruction would probably be seen as a use of force in violation of international law.

Unless, of course, America is the one who is waging the cyber-warfare. Followed logically, the State Department?s legal view here would mean that when the US attempted to destroy Iran?s centrifuges with a cyber attack in the form of a virus called Stuxnet, Iran would have been within its legal rights to bomb the United States. Ann Coulter: Democrats 'Dropping the Blacks and Moving on to the Hispanics'

During the "This Week" roundtable's discussion of the politics of immigration reform and the Latino vote, conservative commentator Ann Coulter made the provocative claim that "Democrats are dropping the blacks and moving on to the Hispanics," while arguing that immigrant rights should not be considered civil rights.

Coulter's comments came as President Barack Obama and Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney continue vying for the critical Latino vote, with both participating in town hall interviews on Univision last week focused on issues important to the Hispanic community.

Former Clinton Labor secretary Robert Reich argued that Romney has failed to appeal to Latinos on key immigration issues, from calling for self-deportation to threatening to veto the DREAM Act.

"We have Governor Romney who is basically taking a position that is anti a large and the fastest growing segment of the electorate," Reich said on the "This Week" roundtable.

While criticizing President Obama for failing to aggressively pursue immigration reform in his first term, Univision anchor Jorge Ramos said that "if Republicans don't do something with immigration ? they're going to lose not only this election, they might lose the White House for a generation."

Coulter quickly interjected, "That's why the Democrats are dropping the blacks and moving on to the Hispanics," seeming to claim that Democrats are more aggressively courting the Latino vote than the African American vote, which polls show is firmly behind President Obama.

Coulter, author of the new book "Mugged: Racial Demagoguery From the Seventies to Obama," also argued that groups on the left, from feminists to gay rights groups to those defending immigrants, have commandeered the black civil rights experience.

"I think what - the way liberals have treated blacks like children and many of their policies have been harmful to blacks, at least they got the beneficiary group right," Coulter said. "There is the legacy of slavery and Jim Crow laws. We don't owe the homeless. We don't owe feminists. We don't owe women who are desirous of having abortions, but that's - or - or gays who want to get married to one another. That's what civil rights has become for much of the left."

When asked whether immigrant rights were not civil rights, Coulter responded, "No. I think civil rights are for blacks? What have we done to the immigrants? We owe black people something. We have a legacy of slavery. Immigrants haven't even been in this country."

Former Obama domestic policy adviser Melody Barnes disputed Coulter's contention, saying that immigrants have faced discrimination that required the same protections sought by those who fought for civil rights.

"I think you misunderstand the history of what's happened to immigrants and the history of discrimination against immigrants in this country," Barnes said, citing the work of the late Massachusetts Sen. Ted Kennedy, who Barnes said worked to "deal with the fact that we were trying to keep people from coming in this country in the most discriminatory of manner, in a way that doesn't lead to and build on the fact that we are a nation of immigrants."

Coulter is responding to viewer reaction to her comments on Twitter today, at @AnnCoulter.

British skipper determined for a good result in Marseille ?

Ian Williams and his GAC Pindar sailing team are focused and ready for the Match Race France that begins next week in Marseille from 24 ? 29 September.??

Hosted at the Yachting Club de la Pointe Rouge, the sixth leg of the Alpari World Match Racing Tour will be held in the bay of Marseille where some of the world?s top-class sailors will compete in identically matched J80 boats.

Williams, the reigning ISAF Match Racing World Champion, and his team have had to regroup after a very disappointing result in St Moritz where Williams and Hansen, the team leaders of the series, were right at the bottom of the qualifying table. Ultimately, it all came down to the very last match of the qualifying session. Both skippers knew the importance of the race, that victory would mean that their closest rival would be knocked out of the regatta, but it just wasn?t meant to be for Williams as Hansen took the win costing the British skipper dearly.

The British skipper comments: ?The GAC Pindar match racing team is looking forward to Match Race France and looking to improve on our performance in St Moritz last month. From the Alpari Match Racing Tour, we count our best four events prior to the Monsoon Cup, and having made the podium three times so far this season, we are looking for a top three in France which would give us a chance at the World Title going into the final in Malaysia in December.??

Despite the bad result in St Moritz, Ian Williams remains in second place on the overall Tour standings with 87 points, just six points behind Bjorn Hansen. With three podium results already secured and with two more events to go before the spectacular Monsoon Cup ? Williams is still on target to claiming the World Match Racing title for an incredible fourth time.

Hmm... you're wanting to take your vote back?

Well, that's a bit tricky. See, we do a lot of stuff with your vote, using it to work out the popularity of what you voted for, compare that to all the other things voted on, tally up our leaderboard, work out your reputation. Someday we'll do a little cartoon showing just how hard your vote is working.

Anyway, taking votes back messes all that up, so we give you five minutes, in case you just mis-clicked. After that we've got to say no take-backs. Luckily, votes are free, so feel free to throw them around left and right wherever you see fit.

Personal Finance Tips That Will Keep You In The Black - ProjectPB ...

You want to avoid wasting your hard-earned money and watching it vanish. You are confused about how to manage your money. Get advice from experts who know what they are talking about, instead of asking your friends who might not have good financial skills. Read the article below and you will find ways to stop wasting your money.

Even if circumstances are very difficult, it is unwise to sacrifice your retirement savings to solve a short-term problem. There are other things you can do to get back on financial track. It?s best not to mess with your future finances to get yourself out of current financial woes.

Open a few checking accounts so that you can stay within your budget. One account could be used to cover fixed expenses; another would be devoted entirely to variable expenses. This is a good way to keep track of money, where it is going, and if you will have enough for expenses.

TIP! Pick one day each month to pay bills. Paying your bills will not take the full day, but it is important to have a specified time for handling this task.

Making sound, responsible financial decisions begins by avoiding debt whenever possible. Having said that, mortgage and vehicle loans generally are okay, as it is nearly impossible for most people to purchase homes and cars without them. Credit should be used sparingly except for emergency situations, such as car repairs or sicknesses.

Should you find yourself having a breakaway month where you feel like you are finally pulling away, remember that this is the time to boost your savings rate, not your expenses. Try to stick to your budget and do not let yourself suffer.

Review insurance plans. Are you paying more than you should for insurance? There may be cheaper alternatives out on the market that you can use or there might be unnecessary options that you?re paying for. IF you save money by reducing insurance costs, you can use that money to pay off debts, make investments or save for the future.

Keep student loans to a minimum unless you are confident that you will be able to pay them back comfortably. If you have not yet chosen a major or mapped out your career path, private school tuition may not be your best bet.

Try raising your credit score to 740 or above if you want to qualify for a mortgage with good rates. The better your credit score, the better interest rate you will receive. Repair your credit and raise that credit score. Try to avoid buying a house through a mortgage if you have a low credit score.

Do not let your past failures keep you down. If you spend a couple of years getting out of credit card debt, use that lesson as encouragement not to rack the credit cards up again. Try to learn from your mistakes, and negotiate better wages next time the opportunity arises. All financial lessons are important, and each one can save or make you money. Look at your past and see where you have went wrong. It will better prepare you for the future and keep you from repeating your mistakes.

If you have a job, but you don?t bring in enough money, get a part-time job. Try applying at a nearby restaurant, department store or other place that may be offering viable part-time employment. The extra money you make will go a long way in improving your overall financial health.

TIP! To make sure you don?t spend too much and waste your saving, allow yourself an allowance for incidentals. The cash allowance can be used to treat yourself to things like books, meals out, or new shoes, but when it?s gone, that?s it.

A good grocery store sale isn?t so good if you end up wasting the items you bought. If you end up throwing out food because it has gone bad, you are essentially throwing out money and negating the bargains. Have a good idea of how much you use of items, so that when you do find it on sale, you can buy the optimal amount.

Use what you learned from this article to make a few changes and start putting your money aside. If there are any tips that don?t make any sense, spend a few minutes of trying to understand them in order to fully understand the concept
