Eva Longoria: "I Wear Braces"

Eva Longoria: "I Wear Braces"

Let us all breathe a sigh of relief that Eva Longoria is not, in fact, naturally perfect. In the new issue of InStyle Magazine, the Desperate Housewives beauty admits a little secret that may make us feel a tad bit better about some of our flaws.

"I wear braces," Longoria, 36, told the mag's July issue.

The actress says she wasn't aware just how much she needed a little teeth-fixing until she saw some photos from her upcoming flick, Cristiada. "Look how crooked my bottom teeth were," she said, pointing them out in a picture. "And I never even knew."

Though we may think she looked just fine before, Longoria says she wasn't always the stunner we see walking the red carpet today. She says she was even considered to be the least attractive one in her family, because she had three older sisters who were blonde.

"I wasn't allowed to wear makeup when I was young," admits Longoria, who says her younger self suffered from seriously low self-esteem. "I would melt crayons and try to put them on my lips, and I would use watercolor for eye shadow."

How things have changed. Now, the A-lister is a spokeswoman L'Oreal, and is virtually a cosmetic expert!

"Mascara is very important. If I were on a desert island, I would have to have mascara and lip balm," she shares. As for applying a set of fake eyelashes? No problemo! "I can even put them on in the car," she boasts.

A total girly girl, Longoria has found a love for fashion as well. "High heels," she says. "I love designer shoes. There’s this pair in my closet by Versace, and they must be 8 inches — crazy tall!"

She even has a few pairs that she just likes to look at! "They’re not to wear; they’re just to look really pretty in the closet," she says. "They are art!"

While it's really hard for us to grasp that someone that looks like Longoria could need some fixing, it's kind of cool that she's willing to put it all out there. And knowing she's wearing braces makes us feel a tad bit less about that seventh grade photo of us with a mouth full of metal.
