Serendip is a new music discovery service that uses music that your friends on Twitter and Facebook are listening to and sharing to build playlists of songs you may enjoy. Once signed up, the service turns you?and all of your friends?into DJs, each with a page stuffed full of music to enjoy.
After logging in, the app asks you about your favorite musicians and looks to see if your Facebook or Twitter friends are already using the service, and will let you follow them if they are. From there, you can dive in listening to music they've posted to Twitter or Facebook. Your playlist is at the top of the display, and at the bottom you can see the video for the song playing, and on the right, the friend, or DJ, who shared it. If you like the song, you can give them a "Rock On," which lets them know you liked it, and reshares the song (if you want it to.) You can "air" your own songs to followers from the search bar at the top of the page.
Even though it's new, Serendip still manages to stuff your playlist with songs you'll like. As you use it, your own DJ page will grow and you'll connect with more people. Serendip has a lot in common with previously mentioned This Is My Jam and The Monstro, another music discovery app we love.
