Adams County Arts Council announces fall music classes for adults

The Adams County Arts Council has scheduled several music classes for adults this fall, all of which will be held at the Arts Council?s Arts Education Center, located at 125 South Washington Street in Gettysburg.

Please visit the Arts Council?s new website at Adams Arts for more information and a complete class schedule.

The Arts Council will offer two levels of group piano lessons this fall, with all classes taught by Sharon Cooley on Thursday mornings, September 6 through October 11. Be sure to sign up early, because each class is closed at six students, so that each student has access to one of the Arts Council?s full-keyboard Yamaha Concert Series digital pianos for the duration of the class.

Piano 1 for Adults: Here?s a fun and gentle introduction to the fundamentals of piano. You?ll learn basic notation and chords and play familiar songs. This class runs 10:45 to 11:45 a.m.

Piano 2 for Adults: Once you?ve mastered the basics of notation and chords in Piano 1, you can take your skills and confidence to a higher level. This class runs 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Guitar 1.5: If you?ve got a little experience playing guitar but want to build your skills, this class is for you! You?ll get plenty of practice reading music, learning chords, and strumming. Bill Serfass will teach this class on Tuesdays, October 2 through November 20, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Class tuition varies with class length; please visit www.adamsarts.org or call (717) 334-5006 for more information, complete class descriptions, and late class additions.

Scholarships are available for students ages 62 and older, and for those with financial need. Call (717) 334-5006 or email aa@adamsarts.org for more information.

The Adams County Arts Council?s mission is to cultivate an arts-rich community.
