Bitboys Demonstrates High-Performance Vector and ... - Graphic Design

Espoo, Finland (PRWEB) July 30, 2005

Bitboys, a provider of graphics hardware IP solutions for wireless and embedded devices, will provide a hardware demonstration of high-performance, real-time vector and 3D graphics rendering for mobile devices at SIGGRAPH 2005, July 31st to August 4th 2005, Los Angeles, CA.

Bitboys develops and licenses graphics hardware IP (Intellectual Property) solutions for wireless and embedded devices. Bitboys processors are designed to provide extremely high-quality 3D, 2D and vector graphics acceleration in the power and size-restricted environments of mobile and embedded devices.

At Booth 1047 of the SIGGRAPH 2005 exhibition at Los Angeles Convention Center, Bitboys will showcase three of its graphics processors:

Bitboys G12, the world?s first vector graphics processor for mobile and embedded environments

Bitboys G34, an efficient 3D graphics processor for volume-market mobile phones and other handheld devices

Bitboys G40, a state-of-the-art 2D, 3D and vector graphics processor for high-tier multimedia phones and smart phone platforms.

Bitboys CTO Petri Nordlund is available for interview upon request.

In addition to mobile phones, a great variety of devices can benefit from the smooth and fast user interfaces enabled by vector graphics acceleration in hardware. Compared with software-based rendering, hardware acceleration of vector graphics provides an over 100-fold improvement in performance at extremely low power consumption levels.

?Bitboys has provided graphics processors for handheld devices since 2002. We expect that future mobile phone user interfaces will primarily use vector graphics, and that high-performance graphics technology will enable a new level of visual content and entertainment applications on consumer-level mobile devices,? said Mr. Petri Nordlund, CTO, Bitboys.

Bitboys products are licensed to leading semiconductor and mobile phone manufacturers as IP (Intellectual Property) cores that are integrated into the manufacturers? SoC (System-on-Chip) semiconductor products. Bitboys is currently the only company that has officially announced support and products for the new OpenGL ES 2.0 and OpenVG 1.0 graphics standards for next-generation handheld devices. Note to Editors:

Hardware demonstration kits of the Bitboys G12 processor will be available to journalists and developers during the second half of 2005. The demonstration kit includes an FPGA chip implementation of the Bitboys G12 processor rendering SVG and OpenVG graphics. The kit is supplied with a software CD and USB connection that allow the capabilities of processor to be easily evaluated on any laptop computer.

Finland-based Bitboys develops and licenses graphics hardware IP solutions for various wireless and embedded devices. Bitboys graphics processors are specifically designed for power and size restricted environments and are the outcome of over 14 years of experience in graphics research and development. The first product line targeted for wireless and embedded devices has been available for licensing since July 2003. Bitboys currently employs 41 dedicated graphics professionals.
